ASIAN INSTITUTE OF PRODUCTIVITY & QUALITY MANAGEMENT (AIPQM)

The Asian Institute of Productivity & Quality Management (AIPQM) was established in 1997 as an education arm of the Malaysian Association of Productivity (MAP). AIPQM focuses on managing various adult education programmes, training and development services for MAP. AIPQM is a wholly owned subsidiary of MAP and is under its governance.

The programmes managed by AIPQM emphasise the practical application of skills and knowledge; they are designed to be delivered by a series of face-to-face contact sessions with facilitators, (integrated with a series of structured learning activities on-the-job). The delivery allows for effective development of learning through practices, feedback, remedial action, reflection and review.

A variety of training/learning methods are used: lectures, demonstrations, action learning groups, small group discussions, peer tutors, facilitators guided workplace projects, case studies, use of technology, workbooks, etc. The strategies are selected to reflect the nature of the learning outcomes and the needs of participants. The facilitators adopt a participant-centered and facilitative role and use the experiences of the participants to demonstrate application of the syllabus in their workplace activities.

MAP is extremely particular as far as the quality delivery of its programmes. As such, AIPQM ensures that its facilitators have at least all these 3 attributes;

  • at least 10 years occupational experience in the area of facilitation
  • hold a basic degree (or equivalent) in the area of facilitation, and preferably a postgraduate qualification or a Masters in Business Administration
  • complete a training programme in teaching adult learners….
    before a letter of appointment can be issued. The aspirant has to deliver a mock tutorial before a panel of experienced facilitators who will assess his or her presentation skills, knowledge and effectiveness.

AIPQM’s current programmes are:
