ASSOCIATION OF PRODUCTIVITY (MAP)
The
Malaysian Association of Productivity (MAP) was established
in 1969 as an offshoot of the National Productivity Corporation,
a statutory body under the Ministry of International Trade
and Industry, Malaysia. MAP focuses on providing vocational
education, training and development services to meet the needs
of employers. MAP is a non-profit making organization pursuant
to its charter and in accordance with the desires of the Government.
MAP has a proud 30 over years history of success.
The
mission of MAP is to promote productivity excellence through
the provision of professional services to achieve a more effective
utilization of available resources and to enhance the value-added
content of products and services. The aim is to increase efficiency
and competitiveness, thereby contributing in raising the living standard of the people of Malaysia.
MAP's
headoffice is located in Petaling Jaya and has offices in
Penang, Johor Bahru and Kuantan and operates in much the same
way as the Open University in the United Kingdom (established
in 1970).
Programmes
are offered at different locations throughout the country
such as in Petaling Jaya, Penang, Kota Bahru, Kuantan, Johor
Bahru, Melaka (ALAM), Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu,
Kuching and Batu Pahat. Corporate Clients and Government Authorities
who wish to train their staffs are given the privilege to
choose the venue to conduct these programmes – usually
these programmes are conducted at their training centers/halls/rooms.
The MAP is driven by the concept of providing ‘education
and training at your doorstep’; hence where there are
sufficient participants and adequate facilities, MAP will
conduct classes at any other desired locations (if the above
mentioned facilities are not available). Academics and practitioners
with at least 10 years of working experience, local and overseas,
facilitate these skills development programmes.
MAP
wholly owns a subsidiary; the Asian Institute of Productivity
and Quality Management (AIPQM), which manages all of MAP’s
long term programmes .
MAP is the governing entity of AIPQM.
